L'Horta

The museographic actions that the Museu Valencià d'Etnologia has carried out in support of this region cover large areas of traditional peri-urban culture. Support of the industrial component is exemplified by the Museu de la Rajoleria, belonging to Paiporta town hall, which disseminates the important industrial heritage of the municipality: the production of bricks which were sold mainly to one city, Valencia, in full urban expansion at the beginning of the 20th century.

The Museu de L'Horta of Almàssera and the Molí del Testar in Paterna are related to the agricultural area surrounding the capital and both are directly linked to water management and its exploitation. In Paterna, in the Molí del Testar, work is being done on the recovery of one of the many hydraulic mills of the municipality. In Almàssera, we have provided advice for a museum which, in an educational way, shows the culture of the huerta and the most characteristic crops of the area.

Finally, the Museu del Palmito of Aldaia (MUPA) is the centre for dissemination of craftsmanship and the art of fan making of Aldaia and the Valencian Region, and the Museu de Ceràmica of Paterna houses pieces that have been recovered from excavations, mostly materials belonging to the medieval period, when Paterna was a great centre of ceramics production.
