Permanent exhibitions

Ten years on, the Museu Valencià d'Etnologia has begun to renovate its permanent exhibitions. For this reason, “Huerta & Marshlands” and “Drylands and Mountains” displays will be closed to the public. The “Town Experienced” section will remain open until the remodelling begins. The inauguration of the new exhibition halls will be communicated in due course. The traditional Valencian society has bequeathed us a rich culture that allows us to get to know how people used to live in our lands. Photographs, testimonies and objects that reflect our way of living and understanding of the world and, at the same time, document techniques, practices and ideological representations; everyday objects that tell us about those who created and used them.Recovering these materials and displaying them to visitors are some of the fundamental purposes of the Museu Valencià d'Etnologia, which was founded by the Diputació de València in 1982. In line with this philosophy, the permanent exhibition of the Museum is structured in three ecocultural areas: La ciudad vivida [The Town Experienced], Huerta & Marjal [“Huerta” and Marshlands], and Secano y montaña [Drylands and Mountains].
