Traditional Valencian society has a rich and diverse culture, which tells us about the lives of previous generations on Valencian soil. Everyday objects which tells us about their makers and their users; objects which evoke feelings, sounds, smells...; objects documenting a lifestyle which has already disappeared, but from which we have been able to learn techniques, methods, cultural material and ideological ideas from well into the 20th century. In short, objects and information which the current society should preserve.

Recovering such objects about traditional Valencian culture is one of the most important aims for the Museu Valencià d'Etnologia. Through donations and the activity of the Museum’s staff, a collection belonging to all Valencians is enlarged. The collections are stored in the old psychiatry complex of Bétera.
